It’s a simple bet because Detroit is just that good. The Lions are at home, coming off a week of rest after Thanksgiving. They’ve been dominant all year, losing just once. Sure, the game against the Bears was chaotic, but they still found a way to win. That’s the mark of a great team.
The one concern for Detroit is injuries on defense. It feels like it loses a key player every week, but so far it has managed to mask those issues. Offensively, there’s no concern whatsoever. This unit is electric — it is the highest-scoring team in the league, leading in yards per , and it has a dynamic backfield duo. Its execution is strong across the board.
The Packers are a solid 9-3 team. They just beat the Dolphins and are definitely in the mix. But here’s the thing: Green Bay has struggled against the best teams on their schedule. It has lost to the Vikings, Eagles and Lions already this season. Its wins are mostly against middle-of-the-road teams.
The Packers’ earlier matchup with Detroit was a weird one, with turnovers playing a big role. But the Lions still came out on top, and I expect them to handle their business again tonight.
Detroit is simply the more complete team. This is a swing game for the NFC North, and the Lions will make a statement. If they win, the division might be over for the Packers and Vikings. I’m comfortable taking Detroit at -3.5 (-104). If you want to grab a cleaner -3, you’ll likely pay a bit more juice, but that’s an option too.
