Cincinnati Reds at San Francisco Giants First Inning Bet
This Reds-Giants matchup looks great for a NRFI bet.
Cincy is sending Hunter Greene to the mound to take on the Giants and their 22nd-ranked first-inning offense today. The flame-throwing righty might be sporting an ERA over 5.00, but my man has 108 Ks in 80 innings. He has also cashed his NRFI in 14 of 16 starts this season. San Francisco is fifth in strikeouts this season (1,244 Ks), and against a strikeout master like Greene, this seems ripe for the picking.
We get Logan Webb on the bump for the Giants to face a very strikeout-happy Reds lineup. You’ll never guess who is fourth in baseball in strikeouts this season — if you guessed the Reds, you win. While Webb doesn’t sport a K rate like Greene, he still has 163 in 174.1 innings.
So, with the total for this game sitting at 7.5, and with two lineups prone to striking out, we’ll happily take the NRFI in this spot.

Tampa Bay Rays at Miami Marlins First Inning Bet
Value. Value. Value. That’s what we’re getting here. The books are giving us -120, and I can’t up a good deal.
Marlins lefty Jesus Luzardo takes his 22-4 NRFI record into tonight’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Taking a look at some splits, Luzardo has been much better at home (3.38 ERA and 102 Ks in 85.1 innings). We’re getting a budding NRFI ace in Luzardo in his home park, and we’re getting him against a Rays team that is in the top half of the league in strikeouts.
As far as the Marlins offense goes, it’s not overly scary. Miami ranks 29th in runs per first inning this season, and I don’t see any reason to be scared today — despite them plating a first-inning run last night. Zach Eflin has been a NRFI smasher as well this season, giving us a 19-6 record on no run first inning wagers. His 147 Ks won’t blow you away, but he ranks third in WHIP (1.04), so he rarely does anything to hurt himself.
All said, we’re firing up the NRFI here with confidence.
